Argentine dictatorship – A quest for Memory and Truth

Argentina, director, documentary, editor

In 2016, Argentina commemorated the 40th anniversary of the coup d’Etat of March 24th, 1976. It was the beginning of a seven-year dictatorship, which was one of the bloodiest time of the country’s history.

For the last 4 decades, relatives of the victims and militants have been trying to bring justice for all the desaparecidos (victims of forced disappearance) and find the 500 babies that were stolen by the dictatorship.

For this web documentary, we’ve met 5 different voices -from 3 different generations- who fight against oblivion and silence: Estela de Carlotto -the president of the association of Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo-, Juan C. -one of the stolen babies who discovered once he was an adult who his real family was-, militants of H.I.J.O.S. -an organization that raise public awareness about unpunished criminals of the dictatorship-, Luis Fondebrider -one of the founders of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team that help identify the remains of the desaparecidos-, and a choir of ex prisoners who were tortured during the dictatorship.
